This is the tooth of a Desmostylian, an extinct group of large mammal distantly related to elephants and manatees.  The lived around the northern Pacific and were likely semi-aquatic although scientists continue to debate what they ate and how much time they spent in the water.  The name "Desmostylus" means "bonded pillar" a reference to these unusually shaped teeth.
